Sy Karlin, Ed.D.
Sy works with schools to bring practical models and strategies that develop the inquiry skills of students in social studies classrooms. He empowers educators by demonstrating how to best engage students in high level cognitive activities that are differentiated as appropriate for individual learners. In his work as a social studies consultant he clarifies the purpose of effective planning as a way to promote student learning. Sy is dedicated to promoting service-learning into social studies curriculum as a means to teach our students to be active and involved members of a democratic society. Additionally, Sy has been published in professional journals such as Journal of National Association for Alternative Certification; Information for Action, A Journal for Service-Learning Research with Children and Youth, and National Social Studies Supervisors Association.
